InnoTung®
the Tungsten Heavy Alloy series
After two decades of expertise in advanced powder metallurgy, in the year 2012, we expanded our capabilities into Tungsten Heavy Alloys with a dedicated business vertical. Today, Innomet stands among India’s very few manufacturers of high-density tungsten components, delivering precision where performance cannot be compromised.
Our Tungsten Heavy Alloys support critical applications in Defence, Aerospace, Medical imaging, Radiation shielding, and Vibration control, tailored to exact industry and mission requirements.
Industries

Tungsten heavy alloy has been the material of choice for use as Pre-fragments laid on warheads and as Penetrators, amongst other defence applications.
The high density, tensile strength , toughness, hardness , elongation and good machinability make it an ideal choice for these applications, with very few alternatives.
Defense

The high density of Tungsten and easy machinability is encouraging its use in radiation shielding equipment and parts where, hitherto lead was used.
Its higher density of around 18 g/cc compared to that of lead of around 12 g/cc, is enabling designers to use thinner radiation shields as compared to Lead. Another important advantage, is that tungsten alloys are less toxic, stronger and able to withstand higher temperatures when compared to lead. Examples are Syringe Shields, Camera Bodies for housing radioactive sources, Casks and Pots for transporting radioactive isotopes, Collimators, Linac and Solenoid shielding materials etc.
Radiation Shielding

The high density, hardness and mechanical properties make Tungsten heavy alloy a material of choice for use as balance weights, vibration dampers, tuning masses and adjusting spacers in helicopters and other aircrafts. So also, its high density makes it an ideal choice for use as ballast weights and nose cones in aerospace and naval applications. Its ability to be precisely machined to complex geometries has greatly broadened this application.
Aerospace

The high density of Tungsten and easy machinability is encouraging its use in radiation shielding equipment and parts where, hitherto lead was used.
The high density of tungsten heavy alloys and their high stiffness have opened up several applications in the general engineering field. Applications include balancing weights in rotating machinery, boring bars, sinker bars in oil drilling etc. Innomet offers a variety of the above products from its Innotung range.
